Charities

Dom has helped to raise significant funds for a number of charities through his expeditions. The EVERESTMAX expedition alone raised over £50,000 split between three charities, SOS Children's Villages, Practical Action and Merlin. Future fundraising efforts will initially be in support of Winston's Wish, a Cheltenham based charity supporting bereaved families.
	Cancer Research UK Two expeditions to the Himalayas have been dedicated to raising awareness and funds for Cancer Research. The first was Dom's first expedition to the Himalayas in 1988 wich raised about £10 000 and the Everest 2000 project raised an additional £20 000. HRH Prince Charles was patron of Everest 2000.
	SOS Childrens Villages SOS Children's Villages focuses on family-based, long-term care of children who can no longer grow up with their biological families.After raising a significant sum the EVERESTMAX team spent time at the SOS village in Pokhara. It is an inspirational place.
	Practical Action Practical Action is dedicated to finding long term and sustainable solutions to challenging poverty. One such project is the construction of bicycle ambulances in southern Nepal. The trailers are made by the local workforce for just a few hundred dollars before being distributed across Nepal. As well as supporting the local economy they have saved many lives.
	Merlin Merlin specialises in health, saving lives in times of crisis and helping to rebuild shattered health services. Their work was crucial in the city of Bam (Iran) after the devastating earthquake in 2003. Not only did they provide emergency medical relief but helped to establish clinics to benefit the city for the long term.
	Winston's Wish The support of Winston’s Wish is designed to help bereaved children and families in their time of greatest need. The launch of Dom's book 'The Longest Climb' was dedicated to raising funds for this worthwhile cause.
